What is RefMe?
RefMe is an automated reference checking platform built for recruitment and staffing agencies. It collects, verifies, and stores references using branded, custom questionnaires delivered via SMS and email.

 

How is RefMe different from Xref and Referoo?
RefMe offers pay-per-check pricing, unlimited custom questions, ATS integration, and a branded candidate and referee experience. It’s positioned as a more flexible, lower-admin alternative to subscription-heavy tools.

 

Can I customise the questions?
Yes. You can control the questions, rating scales, compliance statements, and approval workflows by client, job, or industry.

 

Does RefMe integrate with Bullhorn, JobAdder, or Vincere?
Yes. RefMe is described as working with Bullhorn, JobAdder, and Vincere, with recruiters able to trigger checks, monitor status, and store reports against the candidate record.


How does RefMe send reference requests?
RefMe sends reference requests by SMS and email, helping recruiters get faster completions and reduce manual chasing.


Is RefMe secure and compliant?
Yes. The landing-page content positions RefMe on Shazamme’s secure platform, aligned with ISO-27001 standards and compliant with GDPR and Australian Privacy Principles.

 

How much does RefMe cost?
RefMe uses a pay-per-check model with no subscription, no setup fee, and no long-term contract. More recent launch material also states pricing at $5 per candidate after trial.


Can I try RefMe before committing?
Yes. The most recent launch material consistently promotes a free 30-day trial, while earlier landing-page copy refers more generally to guided onboarding and beta access. For the website, I’d standardise this to the 30-day trial message.


How quickly can we get started?
RefMe is positioned as simple to launch, with no setup fees and no IT team required.

What do we get at the end of the process?
Recruiters receive structured, readable, audit-ready reference reports that can be shared internally and stored against the candidate workflow.


Workflow:

  • Consultant initiates a request in RefMe.
  • Candidate receives an email to enter referee details.
  • Referees receive an email with the questionnaire.
  • RefMe sends automated reminders (SMS/email) every 24 hours until completion.

Automated Workflow: 
RefMe automates the entire reference process, from candidate data entry to referee follow-ups, freeing up consultant time.


Security & Tracking:

The system tracks referee IP addresses to flag potential fraud (e.g., a candidate using the same IP as a referee) and sends automated reminders via SMS and email.


Questionnaires:

Admins create and manage master company questionnaires.

Consultants can use these templates or build their own.
